Why I’m Running
When I left public office, I left with pride in what I had achieved for Ward 8 and 14—but also with a hard truth. At that time, I was in the middle of a very public battle with mental health, one that Millions of Canadians face quietly. At my lowest point, I was labeled a bully, ridiculed, and dismissed. My illness wasn’t met with compassion, but I own my part. I have taken responsibility and I do not shy away from this.
I took time to step back, seek world-class treatment, and focus on recovery. I’ve worked hard to get healthy, to regain my strength, and to evolve as both a person and a leader. I came out the other side with a deeper, more grounded perspective and more determination than ever.
These past years, I’ve been caring for my aging parents and spending time with my family. But I’ve watched Hamilton change—and not for the better. Crime is out of control. Home invasions, car thefts, violent assaults, and even murders are now far too common. Taxes have hit record highs, yet services are shrinking, roads are crumbling, and we’re all paying more but getting less.
Years ago, I warned about rising crime, homelessness, and waste at City Hall. I was called an alarmist. I wasn’t making noise—I was sounding the alarm.
I know how City Hall works. I know how to ask the hard questions. And I know how to deliver results. I’m running to restore respect for taxpayers, take back our streets from the gangs, drugs, and criminals, and bring common sense back to City Hall.
I’ve faced my toughest battle and won. Now I’m ready to fight for Hamilton & Ward 8 again.
I humbly ask for your support.
Terry
